NAHU hosts policy conference

The National Association of Health Underwriters hosts its annual Capitol Conference on Capitol Hill this week, bringing business leaders and bipartisan legislators together to discuss the changing marketplace and pending health reform regulations. Employee Benefit Adviser will be on site at the Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill to bring you coverage from this summit.

Starting off the conversation on Tuesday is Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.), the chair of the Senate Small Business Committee, who will be speaking about Congress’ agenda for small businesses. Other speakers for Tuesday include Mercer’s Tracy Watts on the private exchange system, Wellpoint’s Doug Wenners on payment reform and Mark Iwry of the Treasury’s retirement and health policy group who will discuss employer responsibility requirements. 

Wednesday includes a panel discussion on employers’ next steps and more speakers on the future of the industry, including Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) of the House Energy and Commerce Committee on her party’s perspective, Chiquita Brooks-LaSure from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid and several executives from different states’ health departments to discuss state implementation efforts.
