Wendell Strickland

Wendell specializes in developing healthcare distribution models that allow his clients the ability gain control of the supply chain side of healthcare. He restructures the distribution of medical and pharmacy benefits to employees. This model generates transparency and control over the individual elements of costs and drives strategies to help employers maintain the viability of their healthcare programs.

Wendell Strickland is an entrepreneur with experience in owning and operating companies while balancing the human capital management. Wendell built an employee benefits Communication Company in 1996 that delivered printing, warehousing and call center services to support the communication and enrollment of benefits for employers. When the company sold in 1998 it had over 850 employees and clients such as the Department of Community Health in GA with over 240,000 active employees and 90,000 Board of Regent employees. Wendell then invested in a SAAS HRIS technology company. The HRIS Company provided a technology solution to employers for enrollment and administration of employee benefits and carrier feeds for transaction processing of benefit changes. The HRIS Company was sold to Ceridian in 2001 and at that time had 198 employees and clients ranging from 1,000 – 50,000 employees.

Wendell Strickland started his healthcare consulting career in 2004 when Brown and Brown asked him to open and develop the benefits operations for its Atlanta office. Wendell had to develop a benefits practice that could differentiate itself in the marketplace. Having owned and run several companies, Wendell took a completely different approach to benefits and structured his solutions as an employer would want to purchase these services. Understanding that the traditional Activities based Brokerage solutions did not produce the desired results, Wendell started restructuring the delivery of healthcare to achieve the required outcomes. Wendell built the Atlanta office of Brown and Brown to $1,500,000 in commissions in 2 years and decided the large corporate environment was too restrictive to craft his expertise. Wendell then built the Governmental practice for Cobbs, Allen & Hall and Shaw Hankins as a contractor until 2013 when he decided that building businesses for other owners was not a sustainable strategy.

Wendell Strickland’s value to his clients lies in the experience he has in building and operating companies and that perspective as a business owner with 100’s of employees. The ability to have genuine P&L discussions with the Executive suite as well as the operational staff . Understanding the value of true consulting services that deliver measurable results and moving away from activities that do not generate a long term strategy.

Wendell works closely with our clients to develop strategies that reduce costs, deliver healthier employees, drive compliance and reduce the overall administrative burden for benefits administration. Wendell has over 21 years of developing corporations to deliver services to employers and 13 years of benefits consulting experience. His expertise lies in designing and managing “large group” fully insured and self-funded benefit plans using innovative risk management and cost-containment strategies.
