Joseph-Murgo

Joe is responsible for leading the development and launch of Anthem’s new Intermittent Workforce Program and its associated Anthem FlexHour Plans product portfolio. Anthem’s IW Program allows employers with large populations of intermittent workers (people who work on a gig or free-lance basis either for staffing companies or in industries such as retail, restaurant, transportation and hospitality) to design an attractive, mostly employee-pay-all benefits rewards program to address recruitment, retention, employer-of-choice and ACA compliance concerns.

Prior to that, Joe was Senior Vice President, Distribution for Aetna Voluntary Plans and President of Strategic Resource Company or SRC, Aetna Voluntary’s main operating business that was deeply impacted by the Affordable Care Act. In that role, Joe helped re-define, re-shape and re-launch the business with a new portfolio of products and go-to-market strategies.

Joe has over 30 years of senior-level health care experience across multiple disciplines such as general management, finance, operations, strategic planning, project management, healthcare reform legislation, IT and sales & marketing.

Joe has a Bachelor of Science degree from Georgetown University, is a published author of numerous whitepapers, and a frequent speaker at national healthcare conferences. In his leisure time, he enjoys songwriting, Napa cabs, Hoya basketball, travel with his wife Karisse and spoiling his dog, Sassy.
