Benefits professionals have continued to make big career moves. January brought with it a number of promotions in the insurance, technology and consulting spaces. Here are some of the biggest moves executives made at JazzHR, New Benefits, Limelight Health and more.

Bozeman named president at New Benefits

Dulce Bozeman has been promoted to the role of president at New Benefits, an aggregator of ancillary health and lifestyle benefits. Bozeman has nearly 20 years of tenure at the company and previously served as the company’s executive vice president. In her new role, she provides leadership with a focus on increasing business effectiveness and directing organizational structure.

Former benefits consulting firm leader joins Ginger.io

Ginger.io, an on-demand behavioral health technology platform, appointed healthcare executive Peter Bridges to the role of chief commercial officer. Bridges was the founder and managing partner of Peter Bridges Partners, where he worked with leadership teams at several digital health, information technology, healthcare and professional services firms to help them scale their businesses. He has also held senior executive roles and practice leader positions with Hewitt Associates and Aon Corporation, now Aon Hewitt as well as Watson Wyatt, now Willis Towers Watson. In his new role, Bridges will lead Ginger.io’s sales, client success and channel relationships.

Lockton selects Connors for HR consultant role

Global professional services firm Lockton has hired Sean Connors as a human resources consultant in their Chicago office. Prior to joining Lockton, Connors spent time at USI Insurance Services and Group Services. In these roles, he partnered with his clients to design employee benefits strategies that helped them achieve their business objectives.

Limelight Health appoints Espinosa to vice president

Limelight Health, a provider of cloud-based enterprise software solutions for employee benefits, hired Peter Espinosa as vice president of Enterprise Sales and Alliances. Espinosa brings more than 30 years of experience leading enterprise global sales initiatives at IBM, Vignette, Retek, Guidewire Software and CSC (DXC). In his new role, he will be responsible for running all enterprise sales and alliance relationships.

JazzHR taps former Monster executive to manage strategic alliances

Recruiting solutions provider JazzHR added Amanda Friedl as the company's vice president of Strategic Alliances. Friedl will focus on expanding existing relationships and performance with JazzHR's alliance partners, including ADP, Namely, Zenefits, PrismHR and Amcheck, as well as bringing in new alliance partners to further accelerate the company's reach in the small and medium sized business market. Friedl brings experience in managing go-to-market planning and partner enablement in HR technology. As the senior director of media alliances at Monster, she was responsible for maintaining partnerships in order to drive revenue for Monster and the alliance partners.

Franklin accepts new role at ancillary health and lifestyle benefits firm

Amanda Franklin will serve as executive vice president of operations at New Benefits. In her 11 years with the company, Franklin has taken on a myriad of roles, most recently serving as vice president of vendor relations. In her new role, she will work to support the company's strategic plans.

Alegeus names Hastings as COO

Consumer-directed healthcare solutions company Alegeus named Jeremy Hastings as chief operating officer. Hastings has more than 20 years of industry experience and will lead the company to deliver better solutions, differentiation and outcomes for Alegeus and its clients. He will be operating out of the Alegeus headquarters in Waltham, Massachusetts. Hastings received a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology from Clark University and a Masters of Business Administration from Carnegie Mellon University.

Maddox accepts vice president role at Brightway

Chinikqua Maddox, who joined Brightway Insurance a year ago as the company’s strategic initiatives leader, has been promoted to vice president of strategic initiatives. Maddox has led development and execution of strategic initiatives across Brightway and supervised the company’s information technology, systems administration and business analytics teams.

In this new position, she has joined the Brightway executive leadership team and will expand her responsibilities. Prior to joining Brightway, Maddox was an independent insurance consultant who performed product development, project management and general consulting services for clients. She held senior management roles at Citizens Property Insurance, The Hanover Insurance Group, The Hartford and IBM.

HERO elects Moseley as president

The board of directors at the Health Enhancement Research Organization (HERO) elected Karen Moseley as the organizations next president. Moseley assumed the position from Paul Terry on Jan. 1. Prior to being chosen as the next leader of HERO, Moseley served as the organization’s vice president of education and director of operations. In these positions, she was focused on growing HERO membership, increasing member engagement and improving educational programming. Moseley also held leadership positions in several other non-profit organizations, including being director of research for the Population Health Alliance.

Perez joins CompliancePoint in manager role

Fernando Perez has joined CompliancePoint, an information security and risk management service, as manager of PCI services. Perez comes to CompliancePoint after spending four years with UnitedHealth Group (Optum) as the director of security architecture consulting, where he was responsible for providing strategic direction as well as developing security offerings focused on information risk management. Perez also worked to implement commercial tenants into Optum’s cloud-based environment. Prior to his position at UnitedHealth Group, Perez worked in information security-specific consultative positions to advise clients.

Brightway selects Pollard for director of agency development position

Brightway Insurance has named Scott Pollard director of agency development. Pollard joined the firm in September 2018 as an agency development consultant. In this new role, Pollard will focus on building and executing sales best practices with a focus on franchisee profitability. Pollard brings with him 30 years’ property/casualty insurance management experience, starting as a personal lines customer service representative and later, manager, in an agency in Darien, Connecticut. He has held a wide variety of roles at Safeco for 16 years, and executive roles at Kemper, Citizens/Hanover and UPC Insurance. He replaces industry veteran, Mike Gleghorn, who previously held the role until his retirement in December 2018.

VirtualHealth promotes Powers to chief growth officer

VirtualHealth, a SaaS platform for care management and population health appointed Sue Powers to the position of chief growth officer. During Powers’ tenure at the company, she has helped grow its footprint with industry leaders and innovators, including WellCare Health Plans, Community Care of North Carolina, Chimes and Inter Valley Health Plan. Powers will lead the company’s plans for growth and expanded market share. Powers initially joined VirtualHealth in 2016 as senior vice president of sales. She also held senior positions at Array Health, Edifecs, Quovadx and Vitria Technology.

New Benefits names Ray to chief leadership officer

New Benefits, an aggregator of ancillary health and lifestyle benefits, named Terry Ray the company’s first chief leadership officer. Ray previously held roles at Xerox and Apple, and has been with New Benefits since 1995, most recently serving as president. In this new role, Ray focuses exclusively on investing in the people and culture of the company as well as training and developing employees to be able to lead.

Brightway taps Staplin for in-house counsel

Brightway Insurance has appointed Max Staplin to the role of in-house counsel. In this new role, Staplin will oversee all legal and compliance matters for the company. Staplin earned a law degree from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C., and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Pennsylvania State University in State College, Pennsylvania. He comes to Brightway with eight years of legal experience, much of which is in franchise law.
