Wake up, brew some coffee and eat a slice of toast with Vegemite. Read Twitter posts, relay a brief to a client on measuring medical network savings and give some advice on building support for wellness programs. Start to draft ideas for a requested article on health care reform and white paper.
7:00 A.M.
Wake up my daughter (10) and son (8) - make their breakfast, pack up lunches and head to school.
8:35 A.M.
Arrive at work. Check in with our account managers and employee advocacy team, then answer emails.
9:00 A.M.
Meet with one of our property and casualty sales executives to collaborate on meetings.Fine-tune a health care reform update with our COO for tomorrow's board meeting.
10:00 A.M.
Teleconference with a new client to finalize a contribution strategy and plan menu. Discuss logistics for local and out-of-state open enrollment education.
10:30 A.M.
Renewal meeting with a construction client - we explore the pros and cons of new plans with a limited drug formulary.
12:00 P.M.
Lunch at monthly Human Resources Association of the Central Coast meeting. I've been a member for 11 years and will present on PPACA at our April meeting, one of six health care reform talks that I've committed to over the next few months.
1:00 P.M.
Drive to California's northern wine region for a renewal meeting that includes cost analysis on introducing benefits for a recently acquired business. Review of employer-shared responsibility logistics, since the new entity would be aggregated with several others via ERISA-controlled group guidelines.
3:26 P.M.
Back at the office; check emails and submit the potential white paper topics.
4:00 P.M.
Meet with applied science client. Discuss upcoming change to their non-medical portfolio, preparation for 2014. Throw in a little back-and-forth on the correct tide for some little known Shell Beach reefs. A Central Coast surfer must be an amateur meteorologist, so I'm grateful for such secrets.
5:15 P.M.
Drive south to Avila for spin class at the club, followed by some relaxing hot tub time and a quick dinner.
7:30 P.M.
Back to town for yoga class, namaste-ing loose.
9:00 P.M.
Arrive home. Since the kids are at their mom's house, tend to their menagerie. Pour a glass of zinfandel and check Twitter. Share news to followers that California's exchange website will be operational the following day. Do some reading for my CEBS courses.
11:00 P.M.
Off to sleep, perchance to dream of health reform or a good day in Shell Beach.
