Symetra Life Insurance Company announces the addition of four regional sales executives to support group life and disability income insurance sales. Each new hire holds the title of regional sales executive-Group Life and Disability Income. These latest hires will represent Symetra’s group life, disability and absence management products with distribution partners in the following territories:

Lou Ascanio is a 20-year group insurance industry veteran and comes to Symetra from The Hartford, where he served as a group life and DI sales manager. He previously held positions as managing general agent at Colonial Life & Accident and regional sales vice president at CIGNA Group Insurance. (Territory: North Carolina, South Carolina). Jake Brower most recently served as an account executive at The Hartford, where he was recognized as a group life and DI insurance sales leader. Before that, he held a similar role at CIGNA Group Insurance. (Territory: Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky).  Mark Crisler joins Symetra from Assurant Employee Benefits, where he was a senior account executive. He previously held sales positions at CNA Insurance and Phoenix Home Life representing group life, disability, dental and stop-loss insurance products. (Territory: Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming). Carl Perry brings 15 years of insurance sales experience to Symetra. He previously worked for The Hartford where he built a distinguished record selling group life and DI insurance. Prior to 2005, Perry was a senior account executive for The Standard Insurance Company. (Territory: Maryland, Virginia, Washington, D.C.). The Professional Insurance Agents of New Jersey Inc. announces that James Brewi will receive the Community Service award at the association’s annual conference. Brewi served as regional director of field management for the downstate New York and New Jersey region for Travelers Insurance Co. The PIANJ Community Service Award recognizes individuals who demonstrate a significant commitment to the improvement of his or her community. The Professional Insurance Agents of New York announces that Lewis L. Wilson, president and owner of Fire Mark Insurance Agency and president and owner of JO&D Issuance Agency in Cobleskill, N.Y., will be recognized for Distinguished Insurance Service at the association’s annual conference. Liberty Mutual Insurance has appointed Brian Dunham as senior vice president and chief actuary of its Group Benefits operation. … The Hartford has promoted Brion Johnson to the position of chief investment officer and president of Hartford Investment Management Company, and Martha Gervasi to the position of executive vice president of Human Resources. Both executives report to the company’s Chairman, President and CEO Liam E. McGee.
