Concentra expands telemedicine program

Occupational medicine provider, Concentra recently announced the expansion of Concentra Telerehab beyond California. In addition to accessing Concentra clinicians via telemedicine, injured employees from 11 additional states can schedule virtual physical therapy visits with a Concentra therapist.

Concentra is one of many providers offering telemedicine programs to employees, which is planned to attract seven million users by the end of 2018, according to an IHS Markit report, and the market value on telemedicine is only expected to grow — to $36.2 billion by 2020, according to a report by Foley & Lardner.

The virtual healthcare provider has also announced a continuation of its state-by-state expansion of its Concentra TelemedTM, offering to employers and their employees in New Jersey.

“We are planning to add more states in the coming months, continuing our rapid expansion and providing access points of care to employers and their employees,” says Ann Schnure, vice president of Concentra Telemed operations.

The telemed and telerehab programs are specifically designed for workers’ compensation. This puts physical therapy for the management of occupational injuries within reach, which means injured employees are now treated quicker, without traveling and with less time away from work, according to Concentra.

Schnure says these efficiencies not only help curb rising healthcare costs, but also get employees actively engaged in their recovery and potentially have a positive impact on their productivity.

“As our customers’ business requirements continue to evolve and change, we continue to build out our telemedicine solution to meet their needs,” Schnure says. “Like all Concentra telemedicine clinicians, our physical therapists are specifically trained in occupational health and possess a deep understanding of the return-to-work process.”

Concentra Telerehab is only available to patients using the Concentra Telemed platform. Both telemed and telerehab will release together in all future state expansions. The provider brings medical care directly to employees via video connection, injured employees can access Concentra Telemed and Telerehab anywhere they have access to video connection on smartphone, tablet or computer.
