Daily unique visitors to Healthcare.gov have steadily and dramatically declined since the site’s launch, according to data from Internet analytics company comScore.
On launch day Oct. 1, the site, which is the homepage for the federally-run exchanges, had a traffic spike of 2.5 million visitors. But since Oct. 10, daily unique visitors have not exceeded 500,000, and that number is continuing to trend downward, comScore found.
However, while overall visitors are decreasing, visitors creating accounts and submitting applications continued a steady climb, according to comScore. In week one (ending Oct. 6), Healthcare.gov had 5.31 million unique visitors, of whom 14,000 completed an application and compared plans. In week three (ending Oct. 20), there were 1.58 million visitors, of whom 90,000 completed an application and compared plans.
Further, consumers accessing the help functions of Healthcare.gov — chat functionality and a ‘quick answers’ section — also continued to fall, comScore found. Unique visitors to the ‘quick answers’ page fell to 232,000 in week three, from 1.22 million in week one. Unique visitors to online chat fell to 95,000 from 448,000 in week one.
