ORLANDO — The chatbots are coming, and the future of work will see everything from resumes, job and benefit forms to drug testing become fully automated, according to WorldatWork CEO Scott Cawood.

Compensation experts and benefits professionals have recently seen routine functions and parts of their roles automated; including applications, sourcing using algorithms that speed through resumes, and hiring, he said during an interview at the WorldatWork Total Rewards Conference.

“Eventually, resumes, job descriptions, benefit forms, tax forms, employment verification, drug testing, everything will be 100% automated,” he said. “HR chatbots are coming and every single organization today would be wise to begin thinking and acting on the Fourth Industrial Revolution.”

Total rewards and comp experts, as well as benefits professionals, are especially well positioned to manage the disruption, however.

“Our profession is well equipped to help manage all this change while still building and delivering awesome reward programs that align employee behaviors with that of their organizations,” he said. “These changes will help total rewards leaders stay ahead of competitors with breakthrough approaches to total rewards design and delivery.”

Clients also have a vast amount of data and analytics to make better informed decisions to support the changing workplace.

“Using data and people analytics will help them better understand the expectations of their diverse and multigenerational workforce and by making savvy use of the latest technology, to engage their employees wherever they are, globally,” Cawood said.
