NAHU convention in San Antonio attracts agents

SAN ANTONIO —The National Association of Health Underwriters is gathered in the most visited city in Texas for the organization’s 81st annual convention from June 26 – 29.

As attendees arrived for the opening session, Journey’s hit song “Don’t Stop Believing” rang throughout room, setting the mood of the event.

During the session outgoing NAHU President Steven Selinsky joined CEO Janet Trautwein for a question and answer segment.

Selinsky discussed touring the country to talk with fellow agents and found it encouraging seeing emerging leaders in the state and local associations.

Although the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act creates uncertainty in the minds of those in the health insurance field, both Trautwein and Selinsky remained optimistic and agreed they couldn’t be more excited about the future of agents and NAHU members. “I feel great about it,” said Trautwein.

“I really feel proud of our strategic plan since we took a whole different approach this year at NAHU,” said Selinsky. “We spent the entire year mapping out a blueprint for 2015. Every meeting we had throughout the year we looked at different subjects, talked about how NAHU was going to look like in 2015 and what we had to do to get there.”

He shared three goals for the future of NAHU:

1) By 2015 NAHU will deliver exemplary service

2) If you are in health insurance, you will be a member

3) NAHU will continue to be a thought leader
