Road to WBR — Learn from a LinkedIn master

From the latest in voluntary benefits to the challenges businesses face under the Affordable Care Act, speakers at the 2014 Workplace Benefits Renaissance — held Feb. 24-26 at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, N.J — will address a range of timely topics. In addition to the impressive lineup of keynote speakers, informative break-out sessions at the conference include “LinkedIn Artistry,” a discussion of the critical role LinkedIn plays in business success.

EBA spoke with Warren Benoit, president, Benoit and Associates — and a broker with more than 3,000 connections on LinkedIn — about what attendees will take away from this session, taking place at 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 26.

What are the key topics you will be addressing during your session at the Workplace Benefits Renaissance?

I will try to present solid reasons as to the value behind LinkedIn and why it should be used in our insurance industry. LinkedIn has become a fool-proof option for connecting with leaders in our industry to network in a business setting. LinkedIn affords insurance professionals a new method to market themselves without the rigors of old traditions, such as dealing with limited time or having to travel for face-to-face meetings.

What action items or lessons learned do you hope attendees will take away from your session?

It is time for people to get involved! If insurance is your chosen profession, then one needs to do it 100%. This essentially means to pull out all the stops in connecting with others in your industry, as well as CEOs of other businesses.

What are you hoping to gain from your time at the Workplace Benefits Renaissance?

In these times, what I seek out is learning new and innovative ideas from peers to enhance me personally, as well as my profession. What I enjoy most is learning what others are doing around the country that results in success.
