The Employee Benefits Group division of Sun Life Financial Inc. recently launched a campaign called "YOU" to educate and engage employees about their voluntary benefit choices during the latest open-enrollment season.
As part of the campaign’s theme, "It’s time for you to take control of your benefits," product features and benefits are presented in plain language without acronyms and insurance jargon.
Sun Life also has enhanced its online efforts, personalized booklets and conducted a second annual voluntary enrollment survey, which found that the more time employees devote to reviewing benefits information and meeting face-to-face with an enroller, the more likely they are to sign up for coverage.
"Voluntary benefits are essential to a strong personal financial plan," noted Michael E. Shunney, general manager and senior vice president of Sun Life’s Employee Benefits Group, which offers voluntary life, disability, dental, and accidental death and dismemberment plans.
"Based on our research and feedback in the marketplace, it was clear that there is a need to provide tools that employers can use when helping their employees make sound financial decisions for themselves and their family," he added.
