Microsoft’s ubiquitous Excel spreadsheet is still the go-to HR analysis tool at many organizations. A big step up in capability, Microsoft PowerBI is a user-friendly general analytics tool that can connect to a large variety of data sources, both internal and external, including apps (such as Excel), databases, streaming services and web pages, among others. It comes in both desktop and cloud-oriented versions, and helps users with data preparation, ad hoc analysis and data visualization.
Visier offers a cloud-based analytics engine that aggregates and examines various sources of employee data, including applicant tracking, talent management and core HR systems. It provides HR personnel with data-query tools, and enables slideshow or executive dashboard views into workforce data. Its predictive analytics engine ranks employees based on “risk of exit,” and examines other employee-related metrics.
Workday provides an enterprise-oriented suite of cloud-based financial management and HCM apps. The company recently introduced Workday Talent Insights, an analytics tool that taps data from its HCM system and other data sources and generates scorecards enumerating risk factors related to employee turnover, including “cost to replace,” along with recommended actions to take.
ZeroedIn’s cloud-based software taps data from a number of enterprise apps. It generates metrics and performance indicators comparing data between business units, job roles or employee demographics. It enables HR personnel to annotate notes on trends and impact, create and share role-based dashboards, and set alerts and recommended actions.
