Brokers must own technology guidance

If they don’t already, clients will be expecting advisers to train them on how to better utilize tech services, says 2017 Technology Adviser of the Year Manish Kumar.

KUMAR: Benefits and technologies are going to be a magnet together. They can’t live apart because when it is being worked out for the end employee and employer, they have different means to get the source from. Like the website is there and it’s going anywhere but certainly the focus has been changed to the handheld device which will eventually change also to more information and guidance side of it. It’s like, “Yes, I know about certain things, but I don’t know how to use that.” And that’s where the guidance is going to come across. And brokers need to own that part. Outside of the technology role is how to help to better utilize all the services which you package around for the client.
